This morning we got up very early to take our three oldest girls to the airport to fly to Texas for a week. They will be visiting my parents who are spending 6 weeks there. So last night at dinner, it finally dawned on me that they were leaving, and all of a sudden this picture became so dear to me. This is our farewell dinner that Maggie made last night. Lasagne and salad. It was delicious! The girls will flip when they see this picture of them in t-shirts and culottes, but this is how we live. (They didn't know I had the camera.)
I always get a laugh at the responses I get when I skip one or two days of blogging. (Are you sick? Dead?!) As much as I enjoy blogging, somedays it just gets busy. Anyhow, I've been receiving requests to see some of my quilts. So I'll show you one now and then when I have nothing to write about.

If there were a fire in our home, this is the one quilt that I would grab. Why? I have two other quilts that I have spent more than 200 hours on. And if you were to look closely at the handstitching, you would think I have lost my mind! But this quilt (56" square) was quilted by my daughters and me when they were ages 12, 9, 6, and 3. (Ruthie was a babe in arms). So yes, you can tell which stitches were made by whom, but that's the beauty of it all. The memories that this quilt holds, far outweighs the length of the stitches:-)

Sarah reminds me of how close we all were sitting around the quilt loom, so maybe this winter we'll frame another quilt.
Today when I dropped the girls off at the airport, I told them, "Watch out! Now we'll get lots of snow!" That seems to be their biggest fear, that they'll miss out on snow. Sure enough, by the time we got home we had an inch of snow! It was actually very dangerous driving. This picture was taken right before the whiteout occurred.
So this is today's beautiful scene outside my kitchen window. Reminds me of the line from a hymn, "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Thank God, I'm forgiven!

Mike has a Change of Command dinner tonight, so it's fishsticks for the remaining four of us. Haven't had those for ages!

Many blessings ~ Kathie

Kathie ~ I can understand why you would treasure that particular quilt so much! What memories you'll always have from those days together with your daughters.

I hope you don't miss your oldest too much before they return! We're getting our snow tomorrow (Thurs) so out I go today with everyone else to grocery shop.
