Oh what a busy day it was yesterday. This is Anna sewing a quilt on our longarm machine. She is SO good at it!
Right now the machine is set up in our kitchen so she can have good lighting...but it has to go down in the sewing room before company comes on Friday night.
Here's a closeup. Anna is using the meandering pattern. I pieced this quilt top together about 14 years ago. Every square is cut from fabric scraps of something I've made. A true memory quilt.
Sarah took this picture of Mike while we were trying to move this heavy desk. I'm on the other side. We moved it up two flights of stairs. Whew!
It's nothing pretty to look at...but it's big. The top measures 65x40. And lots of deep drawers! I can't wait to organize everything.
I wasn't planning on cooking much for dinner yesterday...and then my monthly savings magazine arrived from BJs. Since Anna and Mike were going shopping, I gave them a list to make the Shrimp Lo Mein recipe.


Shrimp Lo Mein Recipe:

8 oz spaghetti
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
2 tsp cornstarch
1 lb 21/25 shrimp, peeled
4 tbsp oil
2 stalks celery, finely sliced
1-1/2 cups (1 pkg) cole slaw, undressed
2 green onions, sliced
The recipe called for 8 oz of whole grain spaghetti, but all I had was regular eggfree spaghetti. Cook until al dente and drain immediately; rinse with cold water and set aside.


Did you know that eating pasta al dente is much healthier for you? The longer it cooks, the higher the glycemic index, and the higher the carbs. I read that in Readers Digest but can't find it to bookmark for you.

Mix soy sauce, ginger, cornstarch, salt and sugar in larger bowl. Add shrimp and let marinade for 20 minutes.


Heat wok to very hot, then add 2 tbsp oil. As best you can, remove the shrimp with a slotted spoon to the wok and cook. (The idea is to save the marinade.) Stirfry shrimp until almost done. Remove from wok.

Add remaining 2 tbsp of oil and stirfry celery, slaw, and green onion until tender, about 5 minutes. Return shrimp to wok. Add marinade and spaghetti. Stirfry a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serve immediately. Yummy! (Forgot to mention that I added a bunch of steamed broccoli.)
So glad I doubled the recipe! We loved it.
My hubby brought home this package of wonderful chuck steak so I can make chili for tomorrow's chili cook-off at church. Just a lowkey, fun contest. I'll let you know how that turns out tomorrow.
My latest catalog from Home Sew arrived yesterday. Can't wait to browse through that. I buy my sewing machine needles in bulk from this store. Can't beat the price...$3.95/25 needles. This is the first time there isn't free shipping. But still a good price.

We're off to church this morning to worship our great God. I have heard many great sermons this week while listening to the radio. Much to meditate on. We are so fortunate to live in a country where we can hear Godly music on the radio. PTL

Again I so enjoyed reading your blog..and that quilting machine is fascinating...I have quilts to quilt..going to check around for someone to do them up for me..my hands and fingers are not nimble like they have been in the past!!! and that shrimp recipe...hmmm delicious looking...gonna try it one day soon....God Bless...hugs from Ora in KY
