This week Abigail is on spring break from kindergarten, so we had fun doing what we used to do for four years...we went to the thrift shop and then to Burger King. Abigail had fun running around on the playground.
We met a grandmother who was there with her two grandsons. She noticed we prayed for our lunch and so we got to talking...and come to find out she is the mother of a friend of ours from church! (Bernard S for my church friends.) This isn't the first time we've met people there who knew friends of ours. Such a small world.
This weekend we made new friends from the "A Candle In The Window" ministry. These friends needed a place to stay for two nights while they visited Washington DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival. This is our third family we've hosted. I wish they could've stayed longer for fellowship.
Did you know you can mail Easter eggs through the US postal service? Sarah read about it online...then surprised our mail ladies at the post office. It took a bit of deciding how to do it, then Sarah told them she read on the internet that you just put stamps on them. Can't wait to see if/how they arrive at a special little boy's home!
My heart was warmed when I saw my children playing Parcheesi one day. It's nice to know that in the midst of all the technology and videos that they still find time to do the important things. It's been hard having my son work long days and nights...no time for our usual card games.
When we went to Silver Springs last week, our doctor was excited to show us their resident Canada Goose. This is the female who is sitting on 5 eggs. The male was roosting out by the exit where a big truck went by...but he wasn't fazed. When we drove a few exits more to come home, there was another couple roosting next to the busy freeway. I guess they like cars!
We came home late one night to find two trees across our road. Fortunately my neighbor was arriving with a chainsaw. I definitely didn't want to walk the mile home on that windy, dark night!
My daughters have been busy crafting. This is one of two fabrics Maggie made using plain muslin. She likes anything with green ferns.
Then she made this gun holder using old black jeans.
Meanwhile, Ruthie bought this bracelet for Anna then turned it into a necklace. Our thrift shop has the nicest necklaces for 99 cents. I like to collect the necklaces with initials. Anna's "A" is the most popular I find. I'm trying to find a "K" and a "Z" for the little girls in our extended family.
Spring has been a welcome change but tomorrow we will be getting a taste of winter again for a day or two. I'm so glad I didn't plant anything but onions and beets.
For my quilting friends...make sure you sign up for the Longarm Giveaway! If you can't use it...we know a few girls who can!
Enjoy your springtime. Many blessings ~ Kathie
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
“Great is Thy faithfulness!”
“Great is Thy faithfulness!“
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
